GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This type of seal seat consists of a ring
with "L" shape section, it has a gasket mounted in the outside diameter which
can be a square ring or an o' ring as required, once installed the gasket fits into the
counterbore and rests on its end face keeping the seal seat totally insolated, in other
words the seal seat is "floating", that is why this type of seal seat is known
as floating type. If gasket is made of an elastomeric material not only can absorb low
vibrations, but also keeps the seal seat from rotating, if it is made of a rigid material
(PTFE or exfoiled graphite) a small slot is made at the rear side of the seal seat, in the
same way a pin must be inserted in the counterbore end face so that during installation
the pin is fitted into the slot to avoid the seal seat to rotate. |
|
APPLICATIONS
Because of its simple design, easy
installation, and because gasket can be made of elastomeric or rigid material this type of
seal seat can be used in almost any general application.
It can be a very suitable alternative for seal seats Type 13
and Type 15 if gaskets are needed to be of rigid
materials such as PTFE and exfoiled graphite. |
