GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This seal seat design consists of a ring with
"T" shape section, when installed the seal seat is clamped between the gland and
the stuffing box face (sometimes can be clamped between the gland and the gland adapter or
between the gland adapter and the stuffing box face), flat gaskets are used to seal the
joints between the seal seat and the body of the pump, these gaskets are usually of
materials such as asbestos or PTFE, however they can be of metallic materials if pressure
and temperature are too high. If it is required the design of the seal seat can be
modified by removing one (or even both) of its "shoulders", in this case the
seal seat becomes a Type 19 Modified, and thought it may appear to be a "floating
style seat" (Type 11) it is still a clamped style.

|
APPLICATIONS
This type of seal seat supports the widest
range of pressure and temperature, it can be used practically in all general application,
its use is required to get the appropriate installation and best performance in the
outside mounted mechanical seals. |
